Welcome to Dinarsportif ;
Synthetic grass or so called artificial turf has been initially manufactured due to some disadvantages of natural grown grass for sportive usage.
Synthetic grass has been used for football and for other sports for many years; primarily it has been played on sand filled carpets mostly laid over rubber shock pads. Although such artificial turf systems could sustain much longer usage period than natural grass playing quality especially for football was far inferior comparing to the natural grass. As a result of this problem using artificial turf on the soccer pitches were not allowed at football fields on professional and international levels.
The increasing demand for better and player friendly artificial turf surfaces forced the synthetic grass yarn manufacturers and artificial turf tufters to developed longer and smoother poly ethylene based turf technology. The new synthetic grass or third generation artificial turf can accommodate the use of studded sports shoes, allows the use of rubber based granules and has longer piles than sand only filled turf systems.
After the introduction of the new generation artificial turf systems the playing quality has been increased and this led to rapid acceptance of the new turf system within the football world. In 2003 UEFA has decided to conduct tests on some pilot pitches. The artificial turf system on those fields had been closely monitored and the results had been analyzed for two consecutive seasons. After analyzing all the data UEFA, beginning from the 2005 season, has allowed the use synthetic grass in all UEFA level competitions.
Today the demand and the interest for artificial grass is still growing. Besides the usage of the artificial grass for sports events utilizing it for decorative and landscaping purposes is getting more and more popular every day mainly because artificial turf has some vital advantages against natural grass:
1- Better and reliable performance on every weather conditions
Natural grass surfaces often suffer from the bed weather and from extreme climates. Excessive sunny or rainy climates ,very hot or cold weather highly affects the quality of the natural grass.Artificial turf surfaces does not become muddy in wet weather and performs well under all weather conditions. Natural turf pitches has its limits in terms of numbers of games or events can be held on it. In other words natural grass after each event needs a certain recovery time. On the other hand Synthetic grass does not need such recovery.
2- Artificial grass has a lower overall cost
Although initial investment cost of artificial turf is considered to be higher comparing to natural grass it generates big savings over the time. Artificial turf does not require watering, fertilizing or re-seeding. The artificial turf can be used for years without needing to be replaced. These characteristics and advantages of artificial grass make its self a better overall investment comparing to natural grass.
3- Artificial turf has Longer Life Time
Pitches that have been constructed with the new generation artificial grass can last up to ten years or even more. This means once the artificial turf has been installed there will not be a need for any investment for replacing the turf for another ten years.
4- Fewer Injuries
After the new generation long pile artificial turf has been introduced to market some recent studies indicate that third generation turfs has lower injury rates comparing to the natural grass. Especially during extreme weather conditions natural grass pitches have greater risk for injuries.
5- Environmental Friendliness
Artificial grass needs only minimum watering and it does not need fertilizer or pesticides for maintenance this means less chance of contaminating ground water.
